Enrollment for Swimming Lessons, Life Guard Classes, SCUBA Diving, and More Opens April 24th

Wichita Park & Recreation provides six newly renovated swimming pools located all over Wichita! With all these wonderful pools Park & Rec provides group, private and semi-private swim lessons for all ages. We don’t stop at swim lessons; we also offer scuba programs, which is a great date night for any couple.

Registration for summer aquatic programs opens Monday, April 24 online at Wichita.gov/aquatics.

Our team of certified lifeguards are aquatics enthusiasts that are passionate about creating safe, healthy, and fun aquatic experiences for all ages! We offer a variety of swimming lessons, that are affordable and outlined by the Red Cross Swim Levels. This provides a great resource to determine which class is best for your child. We want to watch you progress from class to class each summer.

  • Parent & Child Lessons | $30 | 8 lessons | ages 6 months – 2
  • Toddler Lessons | $30 | 8 lessons | ages 2-5
  • Youth Swim Lessons | $40 | 8 lessons | ages 5-15
  • Adult Swim Lessons | $40 | 8 lessons | ages 16+
  • Private Swim Lessons | $80 | Four, 30-minute lessons | all ages
  • Semi-Private Swim Lessons | $100 – two participants; $30 for each additional (up to 4 total) | Four, 30-minute lessons |all ages


New! This summer Miracle League of Wichita is offering Swim Team in July! With a variety of zero entry pools, chair lifts and versatile locations, the Miracle League has a swimming league for individuals ages 5-30 with special needs. All registered swimmers will receive a uniform and Miracle League swag! Every swimmer will be provided a life jacket and be partnered with a Buddy to assist during the swim practices and meet.

The five-week season will consist of 4 practices at your “team pool” and then one big swim meet held on Saturday, August 5 at Aley Pool where teams will compete in multiple heats. Athletes only need to be comfortable in the water, to participate.

Also, we are always looking for volunteers to be a Miracle League Buddy! Volunteers must be ages 10+. Visit wichita.gov/miracleleague for more info.


Strengthen and tone muscles in our aqua aerobics classes! This is a great cardiovascular workout, that gently increases your pulse and breathing rate, so it’s great for helping to improve your heart health. Our adaptive class is designed to reduce impact on the joints and for those with physical limitations like arthritis, weight issues or recovering from injuries. Improve your muscle strength, endurance, and range of motion in these classes.

Pre-teens and teens now can prepare to become a lifeguard when they turn 15! American Red Cross Junior Lifeguard Program bridges the gap between swim lessons and lifeguard preparation. Participants will learn lifesaving skills to better prepare them to become future lifeguards. To register for this class, call 316.268.4390.

Junior Lifeguard Class | $55 | ages 11-14

Anyone 15 and older is welcome to apply to be a lifeguard during the summer season. We provide on the job training and CPR certification.


These workshops are perfect or those who are curious about scuba diving, but not ready for a full-blown certification course. Under the direct supervision of a PADI scuba professional, students will learn how to use the scuba equipment, along with essential diving skills in the comfort of a swimming pool. Then, have fun swimming, exploring or playing games!

  • Bubble Makers | $45 | ages 8-12
  • Bubble Makers Family | $45 | ages 8-12 with registered adult
  • Discover Scuba | $45 | ages 13+
  • Discover Scuba Date Night | $55 | ages 18+ | includes dinner-couples only


Join a swim team to learn a lifetime fitness skill, enhance your swimming abilities and grow your confidence. When you join one of our swim teams you build friendships and create lasting bonds. 

Beginner swimmers ages 5-17 can join a swim team at their local swimming pool. Swimmers do need to be able to swim 25 meters unassisted to participate.

Enjoy a private pool rental, splash around and make a scene because all eyes are on you when you celebrate your birthday at one our swimming pools!

All pools are available to rent! The two-hour reservation admits 50 people, including both swimmers and non-swimmers. Rentals having over 50 people, requires additional guards and must be arranged in advance.  The $275 rental fee (2 hours) for 50 people, increases $30 for every 25 people up to 200 guests.
