Ballet Wichita offers ongoing classes at Ballet Wichita. The Institute, a training program that focuses on classical ballet technique offers classes for students who are just beginning ballet (as young as 3.5 years) to dancers who’s pointe shoes have been long neglected and to those who have always been interested and are finally ready to take that big step and enroll in a ballet class. Dance for JESUS Ballet is a new school dedicated to glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ! We teach ballet technique along with interpretive movement and choreography to kids of all ages (3 -15 yrs) using praise songs, worship music, and timeless classical pieces. Each class starts with prayer and scripture. Props such as scarves and crowns are used during class to help teach different techniques along with a little sign language and French terminology. Performances are aimed to be inexpensive and low-key located at the studio or a local family church. Out-reach and ministry to local retirement homes, etc. may be in our future.
Elizabeth Oppermann, the instructor, has been dancing since she was 4. She got serious about ballet in her teens & began taking class from Lila Zali & Kathy Kahn at Ballet Pacifica in Laguna Beach, CA. Elizabeth danced w/BP (as a corps member) for 9 years & also had the joy of dancing w/His Grace Dance Ministry, a Christian ballet company in CA, for 11 years. Elizabeth has taught dance for 23 years at several dance schools in Orange County, CA one being BethEL Ballet, a Christian ballet school. She has lived here in KS for the past 4 years w/her engineer husband & 2 boys.
Cost $5 per class, per student. If you are able to pay the full amount for the 7 week session in advance (no later than first class), the cost is $32.

Raeann’s Fancy Footwork for Dance/Gymnastics is located in Derby, KS and offers year round classes.
Class levels are offered from beginning through advanced and in all varieties of dance. Classes run fall through spring with some younger dance classes available for shorter sessions in the spring. Summer sessions run June and July in addition to out-of-state college programs. Re-conditioning classes are offered through the month of August. Each spring WSPA features a spring performance for students who have been enrolled since fall.
Additionally, WSPA offers a Dance Repertoire Theatre by audition every other year. Dancers in repertoire are featured in a fall concert and other community performing opportunities throughout the year.
YWDS opened in 1963 and has been providing exceptional training in a variety of areas of dance for over 50 years! Kumon is a structured, supplemental math and reading program which guides students from counting to calculus in the Math program and from learning letter sounds to reading high school-level literary text in the Reading program. Through individualized instruction, carefully planned by the instructor, students progress step-by-logical step through the program to build a solid grasp of math and reading while also building critical thinking skills and the mindset to learn new materials independently. Students complete daily assignments that take about 30-minutes per subject in two sessions per week at the Center and the other five days at home. Each worksheet teaches a lesson that’s one small step more advanced than the lesson before so students progress smoothly and gain confidence with each new success.

My name is Heather Harrison. After 31 years in public education (20 yrs. teaching 6th grade
Math and Language Arts and 11 yrs. teaching 5th and 6th grade Physical Education, and many
years of coaching basketball and running), I decided it was time to try something new. My new venture is Step
It Up Tutoring and More, LLC. There are 4 branches of my venture. The first is Physical Education classes for teaching nontraditional/homeschool students (K-12 grade). I have a space at Towne West Mall 2 doors down from Dicks Sporting Goods. I will attach the information flyer. The other areas of my venture are in the developmental phase that will be up and running by the end of August 2022. The second part is private tutoring for 4th – 6th graders in academic areas. Third I will have day camps periodically throughout the school year. I will be finalizing those dates in the very near future. I will be able to accommodate approximately 15 children 3rd – 6th grade each camp. Finally, I will provide a Field Day to Go for teambuilding activity, birthday parties, family reunions, and block parties. Please contact me with any other questions you have.
