One of the gifts Kansas gives us in exchange for the bitter cold winters and blistering hot summers is the perfect weather days that can show up any month of the year. Not only is patio dining an especially delightful way to enjoy the outdoors, but most patios are also inherently kid friendly.
And Wichita has some great offerings when the conditions are right.

Chicken & Pickle | East Wichita
Ideal for families and large groups, this indoor/outdoor venue is a favorite place to grab some dinner with friends and enjoy pickleball or lawn games (bocce ball, shuffleboard, corn hole, Jenga, and more!).
Sheet’s Creek | East Wichita (Waterfront)
Sheet’s Creek in east Wichita boasts a charming creekside patio that offers a cozy, secluded ambiance, enhanced by a wooded backdrop and a flowing stream. But we really love the live music on select nights – a perfect spot for date/girls night or family night!
Ziggy’s | College Hill, East, West
We enjoy all the Ziggy’s patios, but the College Hill patio is a particularly charming spot with string lights and in the cozy neighborhood Clifton Square. We especially love to order their signature summer brew when the sun is shining.
The Belmont | College Hill
In Wichita’s cozy College Hill neighborhood, The Belmont features an open-air patio that blends indoor and outdoor dining with large retractable garage doors and is complemented by mid-century modern furnishings, making it a stylish spot for enjoying craft cocktails and locally sourced dishes.
Stearman Bar & Grill | Benton
Stearman boasts a mega-sized patio on an active airport runway. On a good day you’ll see planes flying in and out and maybe even a sky-diver while you enjoy your meal. If that’s not enough, there’s also a play set for the kids. The fare is quality standard bar food, but our top pick is the weekend breakfast buffet for a perfect start to your Saturday. Definitely one of our favorite patios.
Meddy’s + Oak & Pie Patio | East Wichita
Meddys’ East Wichita location shares a patio with Oak & Pie and features an open air patio with string lights and a relaxed outdoor dining experience. Don’t miss the live music on select evenings.
Wichita Brewing Company | Delano
If you have not been to this patio yet, it’s a must! We especially love their rooftop spot, but their back patio is a great option too. The best part? They do have live music – be sure to check the live music schedule here. 
Point Nine Trailside Eatery | Andover
This is one of our current favorite patios! Not only can you ride your bike on the Red Bud Trail and park it at the restaurant – but they have yard games out back, fire pits, live music, a covered patio with a TV, and delicious scratch-made food and cocktails along with the most fun snacks and treats (think charcuterie and cotton candy). Kids love this spot too!
Old School Brewhouse Tap & Social | Kechi
This kid & pet-friendly patio also has beer, wine, sangria, and margs on tap! And they often have live music on the patio, just an all around cool Wichita vibe.
The Bramble Cafe at Elderslie Farm | Kechi
Serving breakfast & lunch during the late spring through fall season at Elderslie Farm (opening May 2 for the 2026 season). You can reserve a spot to pick blackberries or enjoy the swingset and playhouse.
Public at the Brickyard | Downtown Wichita
The Public and Brickyard has totally committed to the patio lifestyle. This open air bar in the heart of Old Town is perfect for springtime happy hour or late night live music. Kid friendly by day, but a great destination for girls night or date night by night.
Monarch | Delano
Monarch’s giant doors (leftover from its past life as Garage Bar), central location and patio games make it a fantastic place to enjoy a perfect weather day. This Delano gem boasts to-die-for sandwiches and craft brews and spirits. It’s kid-friendly during the day or the perfect stop adults for before downtown concerts or shows.
Georges French Bistro | East
Our favorite French restaurant ihas a small patio perfect for a romantic date night (or girls night out) al fresco! We have too many favorite menu items to mention – but this isn’t a place to rush. Order a bottle of wine and take your time!
Chester’s Chophouse | East/Waterfront
This patio sits next to the water and is absolutely beautiful at night! A great choice for larger groups or a special occasion.
Newport Grill | East (Bradley Fair)
This double decker patio is an ideal date night splurge or happy hour destination. You’ll find both traditional dining and comfortable lounge seating on the Bradley Fair pond. Come for the food and drink, stay for the people watching.
Vora | College Hill
Upscale dining in College Hill with a great view of the neighborhood! The service is cheerful and attentive, and the menu is delish, whether you’re there for dinner or just dessert & cocktails. Be sure to book your spot on Open Table if you’re going on the weekend!
Norton’s Brewing Company | Downtown Wichita
Great for large groups and music lovers! From salads to funnel cakes, there’s a little something for everyone – and each beer is “aggressively brewed” right here in Wichita.
YaYa’s Euro Bistro | East (Bradley Fair)

6S Steakhouse | West
A gem on the west side of Wichita, this patio on the water offers a beautiful view of Kansas sunsets and daily drink specials from 4-6pm.
Best Patios for Pizza in Wichita
Maple Street Pizza: This west Wichita favorite is always busy! Dine in, call ahead for takeout. or enjoy their patio. Note: Maple Street is also our pick for the best gluten-free pizza in Wichita!
Ziggy’s Pizza: This neighborhood favorite is a fantastic spot for a family meal at either location. The pizza is a delight; the tree strung lights and super sized-patio in Clifton Square are awesome. We love the patios at all four Ziggy’s locations.
Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza: Both Il Vicino locations are solid pint-sized patio options, this time with pre-meal dough balls. Pro-tip: order just the dough rolled out to-go and grill up delicious pizza on your own private patio.
Oak & Pie: This northeast Wichita fave boasts a large, shady patio beside an outdoor fireplace. It’s a perfect place to enjoy a wood-fired pizza and glass bottle of wine.
Piatto Neapolitan Pizzeria: Authentic pizza that will transport you to Naples, Italy! But the restaurant is unmistakably Wichita with a lovely skyline mural on the back patio.
Wichita Brewing Company: Both the east and west locations off patio service, as well as local brews and killer cocktails!
