6 Amusement and Theme Parks Within 5 Hours of Wichita

Are you a thrill seeker looking for new date ideas?  Does your family love adventures?  Are you looking for your next adrenaline rush? We’ve rounded up theme and amusement parks within a 5 hour drive of Wichita.  Whether you’re looking for a day trip or a weekend away, we’ve got you covered!  

Frontier City – 2 hours away, Oklahoma City

The closest Six Flags to Wichita!  Hours vary depending on the day of week, so check their online calendar for the most updated times.  The park contains tons of roller coasters, water rides and kids rides.  Additionally, this park contains an Autism Sensory Room located in Timbertown.  

Riversport Adventures – 2 hours away, Oklahoma City

Slightly different from a traditional amusement or theme park, but still so fun if you are an outdoorsy adventure seeker!  Open daily Memorial Day- August 9 from 11am-6pm and then from August 13-September 30 on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-6pm.  This park includes water activities such as whitewater rafting and Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP).  Additionally, test you climbing skills with a ropes course and other activities.  

Worlds of Fun – 3 hours away, Kansas City

Typically open from 11am-8pm daily but check their calendar for specific dates where they stay open later.  This park is 236 acres with tons of roller coasters and even includes “Camp Snoopy” for little ones.  In addition, bring your swimsuit and hit Oceans of Fun for waterpark amusement.  If you prefer to spend the night, Worlds of Fun has a “Village” adjacent to the park which includes RV hookups, cabin and cottage rentals.  Their website also lists other recommended hotels in the area. 

Silver Dollar City – 4 hours and 45 minutes away, Branson, MO

Silver Dollar City is open daily from 9:30am-6:00pm beginning mid-March through December.  This 1880’s themed park contains roller coasters, kiddie rides, a cave and an animal barnyard with farm animals.  Additionally, the park contains WhiteWater Water Park open Labor Day through Memorial Day.  If you are interested in staying by the park, Silver Dollar City has an RV site and cabin rentals.

Bigfoot Fun Park – 4 hours and 45 minutes away, Branson, MO

This Bigfoot and Sasquatch themed park is geared for all ages!  It’s open daily from 10am “until late.”  It includes a “Gravity Bomb” that drops from 200 feet high!  This park is a great add-on visit during a trip to the Branson area.

Six Flags Over Texas – 5 hours and 20 minutes away, Arlington, TX

Technically over 5 hours away if you live in the northern part of Wichita, but still a must-visit for the ultimate adventure seeker!  Typically open daily, but hours vary so check the website for updated hours.  Between thrill rides, culinary delights and live shows, this park has a little bit of something for everyone.
