Family Friendly Events at Botanica This Fall

If you’re looking for some fun family-friendly events this Fall, Botanica is for you! Our gardens are looking absolutely vibrant right now and we have plenty of wide open space for you to enjoy. Below are some of the events you can expect to find in the next few weeks ahead. 

Barre In The Gardens 

Enjoy this all-levels barre class while surrounded by the beautiful sites and calming sounds of nature. Come early to explore the gardens before joining this wonderful barre session provided by instructors from Barre Forte, Wichita. 

The Barre Forte Signature class is a 60-minute barre workout that is designed to trim, tighten, and tone your entire body, with an emphasis on defining your glutes and legs. By using small, controlled movements, isometric holds, and high repetition, you can develop a strong, long, and lean physique. The Barre Forte workout is great for all fitness levels (even during pregnancy, post-partum, or rehabbing an injury) due to its low-impact nature, and all moves can be modified to accommodate any fitness or age level!

Time: 6:30-7:30pm

Cost: $15 Non-members, $14 for members

Monarch Tagging 

Join us as we do our part to save the beautiful monarch butterfly, by participating in a Monarch Butterfly Tagging Experience!

Bring the whole family out to get up close and personal during a monarch tagging and take home a tagging certificate to track your butterfly’s progress.

Enjoy strolling through our Wild Butterfly Garden, Cox Butterfly House and Certified Butterfly Waystation Garden with our Certified Interpreter and Garden Ambassadors on hand for questions and information.

Participants of all ages will learn about monarch life cycle and anatomy, migration, get tips on creating a pollinator garden at home, and enjoy a delicious butterfly-inspired snack. 

Each ticket includes a Butterfly Treat Bag with pop-up binoculars, butterfly-vision spyglass, monarch iron-on patch, educational information and seeds to start your pollinator garden at home!

Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Each Experience is limited to 15 participants per 90-minute session.

When: October 1 & 3

Sessions: 8:30-10am, 10:30am-Noon, 1-2:30pm, 3-4:30pm

Cost: Adults 12+: $20 General, $18 Members

Youth 3-12: $12 General, $10 Members

Ticket includes a 10% Gift Shop discount, good for the day of your experience!

Storytime: Tots, Tales & Tunes 

Join us in the gardens for a musical story time that will engage your tot with rhythmic stories, fingerplays, songs and sunshine! Classes will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Bring a picnic blanket and a snack to complete the morning!

When: Thursdays at 10:30am beginning October 8, 2020

Cost: $3 Members, $12 Adults (13 years and older), $9 Youth (ages 3-12 years), younger than 3 free of charge. Includes admission to all gardens for that day! 

Limited to 30 participants

Tai Chi In The Gardens

Meet us for Tai Chi in the gardens! This unique introductory Tai Chi class is for all levels and promotes strength, coordination, posture, concentration and general level of energy. Learn basic forms, slow and even movements along with proper breathing techniques. Offered by David Larsen, Tai Chi Instructor. 

Wear comfortable clothes to move in and flat shoes for balancing on one foot. You may also want to bring water, sunscreen and bug spray. Chairs

Time: 6-7pm

Cost: Non-members – $50 for all 4 classes or $15 for each individual class

Members – $42 for all 4 classes or $14 for each individual class
