Plan an Action-Packed Summer in Wichita with Kids | Evolve Activities Guide 2022

Need some help planning exciting activities that will keep your kids learning and entertained this summer? Dive into the City of Wichita’s Evolve Guide for a list of hundreds of classes, camps, activities, sports and more. Inside you’ll find everything Wichita Park & Recreation, the Wichita Public Library and CityArts has to offer this summer. If you need a little “me-time,” there’s plenty of options for adults too! By the way, some activities are free!

  1. Online – Visit wichita.gov/EVOLVE to learn more about the classes, view the schedules, and register online.
  2. Phone – Call the facility where the program is held and register by phone using Visa or MasterCard. 
  3. In Person – Visit the facility you will attend and pay using cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard. Make sure to check the location’s hours of operation before you arrive. 

The summer Evolve guide is conveniently grouped into several categories including: 

  • Rentals  
  • Aquatics

  • Active Adult 

Cool off at any of our ten splash pads and six swimming pools. Purchase a daily admission, coupon book or a season pass which is great for a family on a budget. Party packages and private pool rentals are available. Visit wichita.gov/aquatics for location information and other details.

Swimming lessons:  Parent/Tots, Tots, Youth and Adult.

Private and semi-private lessons are also offered. 

Aquatics activities: Junior Lifeguard Training, Competitive Swim Team, Aqua Aerobics, Scuba and River Float Trips.  

Your tots will be begging to come back to these kid-approved classes and activities!

Books and Reading: Kids age 0-2 can participate in Early Literacy Bingo, a twist on the traditional Baby Bookworms program. Complete activities with your child and win cool prizes. Don’t forget about free story times, available every day at different locations!

Sports: Sports of all Sorts, Soccer, Football, Boxing, Basketball, Martial Arts, Cheerleading, Gymnastics, Tiny Tumblers, Intro to Tennis, Wee Warriors and more! 

Visual and Performing Arts:Ballet & Tap, Fun at the Piano, Hand Kite Workshop, Mini Music Makers and many others.

Kids can’t get enough of our action packed summer camps and classes! 

Specialty Camps – Top Shots, Camo Camp, Movie Makers, Animal Planet, Jedi Training, Junior Chef Boot Camp, Hogwart’s Academy, Twisted Sports, Messy Science, Medieval Times, Roblox Studio, Arcade Games-eSports, Water Frenzy, iGame Creators, Gaming and Coding, Video Game Live and more!

Summer of Discovery – Kids will love the multiple weekly field trips and swimming, along with a variety of sports, games, contests, crafts and onsite presenters. Sign up for one week or sign up for them all!

Summer Activity Camp – Kids in need of a half-day camp will have lots of fun at this Kansas Dept. of Health & Environment licensed camp. Scholarships available. 

Summer Art Camp –Head over to CityArts for week-long art camps!

The Summer Reading Program – Available for kids (age 3-11) and teens (age 12-18) all summer long. Don’t miss out on fun programs and activities all summer long, including STEAM and virtual reality programs.

Sports – Tennis, Basketball, Pickleball, Boxing, Martial Arts, Cheerleading, Gymnastics, Archery, Kickboxing, Golf and the list goes on!

Visual and Performing Arts -Ballet & Tap, Folklórico, Create a Comic Strip, Guitar, Piano, Kiln Work: Glass Fusing, Glass Fusing Basics, Drum Lessons and others.
