Shop Local :: Wichita Vintage Decor

I love the whole decorating process: from dreaming up a picture of what I want the space to look like to putting it all together. My favorite part, though, has to be scouring all my favorite places to find just the right pieces. While we do have some new furniture in our home (I’m looking at you, Nebraska Furniture Mart), the vast majority of our decor is vintage, re-purposed, or antique. I like the idea that these pieces have a story, and that our home won’t look like anyone else’s.

Luckily, Wichita has some great places to score unique items. Here’s a list of my local favorites:

The Cottage Market

Confession: I’m pretty sure half of the big furniture in my house is from the Cottage.  I’ve been a huge fan since it started years ago as The Cottage Collective, and I still make regular trips to their monthly sales. You can find dreamy farmhouse decor Joanna Gaines would be proud of.

Old Town Architectural Salvage

This place is overwhelmingly amazing. Floor to ceiling, it’s packed full of antique chandeliers, paintings, hardware, doors, stained glass, and everything in between. Plan to spend awhile here.

Southern Belle Antiques and Interiors

I discovered this little spot in Goddard on a recent shopping trip, and it’s certainly worth the drive. While many of the items aren’t actually antiques, they have a beautiful, antique, French country vibe and a great selection.

The Rusted Rooster

Started by a former Cottage vendor, the Rusted Rooster is a more brightly-colored version of The Cottage Market where rustic goodies abound.

Country Bumpkins

The sign says “Craft Shoppe”, but don’t be confused. This shop houses chippy furniture and decor, and always smells amazing (you can buy their signature potpourri by the bag).

RElove All Things Shabby

Like the name says, this store is a great place to find shabby-chic decor. The store is large and full of already-refurbished merchandise, or you can bring in a piece you already have and they’ll redo it for you.

Paramount Antique Mall

Antique malls are the original vintage decor paradise.  Paramount has two locations – east and west – and while the west location is my favorite, both are certainly worth a visit.

Barn Sales/Outdoor MarketsIMG_9243

You guys, these events are awesome. Tons of vendors, food trucks, and a fun atmosphere are all in store for you if you attend a local barn sale or outdoor market. They’ve gotten extremely popular in the last few years, so wear comfortable shoes and plan to walk in case you have to park far away. Here are a few you should put on your calendar for this year:

Happy shopping!
