Wichita Gift Basket Ideas | Local Flavors They’ll Love

Let’s face it, there is always someone on your gift list who leaves you stumped. Or, maybe you have an upcoming dinner party at your boss’s house and Emily Post has instructed you to bring a gift for your hosts. Better yet, later this month, your in-laws are trekking across the country to spend a few days with your family. Looks like you have some gifts to purchase. No fret, no worries, a basket filled with goodies from local specialty food stores is all you need! A Taste of Wichita Basket is a gift anyone will devour.

I have a good friends coming to spend a week in wintry Kansas and figured I should “treat” them well. With my toddler in tow, we made six quick stops all within a five mile radius to gather the contents for our Taste of Wichita basket. We had a blast! It felt as if were tourists in our own town buzzing to some of the favorite shops of locals.

First, we loaded up on the milk chocolate mixed nuts and fudge from the Nifty Nut House. This stop served as a bonus stop as we grabbed a bag of popcorn from The PopCorner.

We popped into The Workroom for some Wichita #flagswag to adorn the basket. This is where our basket turned into a bag when snatched an incredible canvas bag designed by a local artist!

From there, we strolled down the street to the Spice Merchant. As a first-timer, my senses were ignited with the smell of coffee and spices. I selected a bag of bread dipping spice based on the recommendation of a store employee.

Next, we buzzed east on Douglas to Reverie for fresh ground coffee and a bag of Leaf Logic Tea (a personal favorite) to add to our growing stash of goodies.

We selected four delectable chocolates from Cocoa Dolce and polished off the bag with bread from Great Harvest Bread Company.

Now, this is where we stopped based on the napping requirements of my shopping partner, but we certainly could include some other great items from Spicy J’s Seasoning, and the Farris Wheel.

If you need a great gift idea suitable for any occasion and any person, assemble a Taste of Wichita basket! Here are some tips:

  1. Ask which items are best-sellers or seasonal only
  2. Stock up on your favorite treats as you see them around town
  3. Embellish your creation with local some flair
  4. Farmer’s markets and vendor shows are excellent places to pick up goodies
  5. Try not to consume the contents prior to delivery!
