Fall Registration for the Greater Wichita Junior Football League is NOW OPEN!

The Greater Wichita Junior Football League registration is open for the upcoming fall season! Youth in 1st – 8th grade are invited to sign-up and join a team. All skill levels are welcomed from first time to returning experienced players, we have a place for everyone to thrive in GWJFL.

Not only is football fun, it’s also a great health benefit to any participant. Football helps to improve concentration and coordination, trains your brain, builds strength, stamina, and speed, all while increasing muscle mass and bone strength in inactive individuals. The beauty of football is, you can be any shape or size and excel on the gridiron.

Youth football teaches kids accountability, leadership, and positive sportsmanship. Every position has a purpose and to execute a play successfully, each player needs to fulfill their responsibility, while working together. This is a skill that’s valuable both on and off the field.

Currently, registration is open through July 24 online at Wichita.gov/Football. The cost to enter the Greater Wichita Junior Football League is $55. If you are new to the league our administration will place you on a team (additional team fees for uniform). If you happen to miss the deadline to register, there will be a week of late registration available for an increased fee of $70 through August 1.

Oct 3, 2015 Youth Football

Practices will start the first week of August and the first game will be on September 10. The fall season is made up of eight weeks with games hosted at South Lakes Sports Complex, a sixteen-field facility (5300 S. Meridian Ave.). Parents can plan on two-three weekly practices and a game on Saturdays.

For the second year in a row, we are excited to bring you Torchy’s Player of the Game! Every week a Player of the Game is chosen thanks to our sponsor Torchy’s. Wichita Park & Recreation spotlights a game each week, where two players will be chosen as the player of the game. Each player is selected by the opposing team coach. They choose the athlete that worked hard on the field, demonstrated good sportsmanship and teamwork during the game. Athletes receive a congratulatory letter and a gift card to Torchy’s to enjoy tacos with the family after the game.
