When Diet & Exercise Don’t Work

Thank you to Plastic Surgery Center for offering top-notch skincare and health services for Wichita families!

Plastic Surgery Center WichitaWe’re all different, and our bodies respond differently to pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. Even more, our unique compositions make us respond differently to diet and exercise.

Perhaps you have friends who do the same workout you do and eat the same healthy foods, but their results are different than yours. First, this is perfectly normal. Second, if you’re working hard and not seeing changes, there is something you can do about it.

In this article, we look at when diet and exercise don’t work, or when you need that little something extra to enhance your healthy living. Here are your options for getting the body you want, presented from non-invasive options to surgical procedures.

Option #1: CoolSculpting

When your spin class and salad aren’t enough to reduce your stubborn fat, you can turn to CoolSculpting. It’s a unique fat-freezing treatment for men and women that reduces the stubborn pockets of fat that diet and exercise may not help.

CoolSculpting contours your body by freezing unwanted fat with no surgery or downtime. It’s great for people who need to get rid of fat pockets but who don’t need skin tightening.

Using controlled cooling to eliminate the fat cells under your skin, the cells are frozen, and then they die. Your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving a more sculpted you over time.

CoolSculpting treats the abdomen, flanks/sides, double chin, inner and outer thighs and upper arms.

Option #2: Liposuction

Plastic surgeons use liposuction to refine your shape and proportion by removing fat deposits under the skin. It provides a more controlled removal of fat than CoolSculpting for patients who don’t need any skin tightening.

You’ll find that liposuction immediately slims and reshapes areas of your body while permanently removing fat cells from the directed area.

Liposuction is the second most popular cosmetic procedure in the United States, and it’s often used in combination with a tummy tuck. It can treat the abdomen and waist, thighs, hips and buttocks, upper arms, back, inner knees, chest, cheeks, chin and neck.

Option #3: BodyTite

If you need skin tightening as well as fat removal, BodyTite is a new, innovative solution. This treatment reduces fat without the saggy, wrinkly skin. It can also help improve saggy skin after weight loss or due to aging.

We’re excited to offer this treatment because it uses radio-frequency assisted lipoplasty to treat your stomach, arms, chest, knees and inner/outer thighs. We can treat multiple areas during your visit, and each zone takes approximately 45 minutes.

You’ll see your results immediately, with best results noticeable after three-six months. With this treatment, you have less recovery time and minimal scarring.

Option #4: SmartLipo TriPlex

We also use SmartLipo’s laser energy to permanently remove unwanted fat while providing some skin tightening. It melts away your fat while stimulating collagen to tighten and tone your skin. The laser technology literally dissolves the fat without the downtime of traditional liposuction.

With SmartLipo, we can target areas of your body including your tummy, arms, neck, face back, buttocks, knees, and thighs. Each zone takes approximately 45 minutes.

You can expect to see some results right away, but you’ll notice the full effect once the swelling subsides and your collagen has had time to grow.

Option #5: Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck is an excellent choice if you want a tighter, flatter stomach. The tummy tuck is the most comprehensive procedure because it addresses your muscle and skin laxity as well as your fat structures.

This surgical procedure removes any excess fat and skin while smoothing and improving abdominal contours and narrowing the waistline. Your new flat abdomen is relatively permanent as long as you maintain your weight and general fitness.

You’ll notice your results after your swelling goes down.

Final Thoughts

We do encourage our patients to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating right, drinking plenty of water, and getting the recommended amount of exercise. By creating a habit of healthy living, you’re well on your way to the body you want.

For those of you who are working hard every day and not seeing the changes you’d like, there are options. If you’re dealing with stubborn pockets of fat, excess sagging skin, or bulges, there is something you can do about it.

You can like how you look and feel in your own skin, and it is okay to feel good about yourself. After all, when we feel good about ourselves, we’re often more positive mothers, wives, employees, co-workers, friends, volunteers, and more.

A boost of self-confidence is often the result of that little bit of extra help from the Plastic Surgery Center and PSC Aesthetics. If you’re interested in discussing your options and learning which of these treatments are right for you, please get in touch!
