DIY Fortnite Birthday Party Ideas

If you’re like me and every other mom in America, you’ve heard of the video game Fortnite. It is a free game on pretty much every electronic device available. It has taken the world by storm (pun intended). If you’re not familiar with Fortnite there are a few different versions but the gist is that it’s a shooter/survival game where you can find weapons to protect yourself and build fortifications to run and jump on?!? Oh! And don’t forget about the dancing! I’m honestly still trying to figure it out and my boys have been playing for the better part of 3 years. Anyways, for my youngest son’s 8th birthday, he wanted a Fortnite themed party. I am not a party planner extraordinaire so to the interwebs I went. Here is what I found:

Goodie Bags: If you are in to goodie bags then you have it way easy. You can set them up as a supply drop. To do this you just need blue paper bags, yellow ribbon and yellow balloons. Fill the bag with whatever you want, blow up a balloon and attach it to the bag with the ribbon

Drinks: Any blue drink such as Gatorade or Kool-Aid or cup can have a label slapped on with Chug Jug Slurp Juice or Shield Potion on it and will be a guaranteed hit.

Snacks: V-Bucks is the currency in the game and it’s a round silver coin. That makes it easy for lots of snack ideas. I was able to make sugar cookies frosted to look like V-Bucks. You can also do a round cake or cupcakes and decorate to look like a V-Buck. Another fun idea is a Fortnite med kit. Again, many different options but the one I liked was a rice krispie cut into a rectangle with a red candy ribbon across with a white cross in icing. Simple and easy!

Decoration: Loot Llamas are treasure chests found throughout the game. You can buy a llama piñata and use it as a decoration or fill it and play the game!

Entertainment: One word: Youtube – there are so many videos about Fortnite that you could probably watch from now until you die and still not see all of them. If you are worried about language or ridiculousness there are even some available on Youtube Kids that cuts some of that out.

While throwing a Fortnite party may seem daunting anything you do will be enjoyed. You can make it as homemade or store bought as you like because there are so many things available. Whichever way you end up going I’m fairly certain that your kids and their guests will think it’s really cool and you will be the hippest mom on the block!
