4 Quick & Easy Treats for Mom After the Kids are in Bed

Staying at home with my kids sometimes calls for an afternoon treat when they nap, which has led to the discovery of some of my favorite recipes. It would be rude of me not to share them with you so you can treat yourselves! Feel free to share these treats with your kids but if you’re like me, it’ll be a sweet reward for getting through another day of mom life.

Edible Cookie Dough Recipe

This is the perfect size for one person to enjoy or two people if they aren’t greedy about their sweets. I love eating it slightly firmed up in the fridge and tossing in semi sweet chocolate chips and a few m&m’s. If you don’t want to make it, go check out The No Bake Cafe at Clifton Square!

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 TBSP softened butter
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 TBSP milk
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • Your favorite add-in like chocolate chips, m&m’s, chopped candy, etc.

Mix the butter and brown sugar with a hand or stand mixer on low for around one minute. Stir in vanilla, milk, flour and salt. Mix another 30 seconds then toss in the add ins and stir by hand. Enjoy right away or refrigerate for 30-60 minutes to firm up.

Mug Cake Recipes

I have tried tons of recipes for cake in a mug and this recipe is by far my favorite. Of course it’s by the Pioneer Woman. It’s so delish topped with some ice cream and sprinkles. Oh man, I might go make one right now. If you’re not in the mood for chocolate, this blueberry lemon mug cake is pretty great too!

Easy Banana Splits

Another favorite quick snack is slicing a banana in discs and then topping each slice with a dollops of peanut butter and a few chocolate chips. Sometimes I even take a big spoonful of peanut butter and sprinkle some chocolate chips on the top and slowly enjoy it.

Popcorn

Don’t sleep on popcorn. I love crazy popcorn. That’s what we call it in our house. I highly suggest following @joyinthemeantime on Instagram. She has a few fun popcorn creations on her IG and website. We love making honey butter in the microwave to drizzle all over the popcorn then add in a chocolate candy like milk duds or m&m’s and then adding in gummy bears. My husband and I made this pre-kids as well and it’s always a gooey, delicious, sweet and salty treat. The gummy bears are key. You need that bright sweetness with the salty popcorn and butter. It’s also delicious with whatever candy you can find from raiding your kids leftover Halloween or Easter candy.

I’m always looking for more quick and easy sweet treats so share with me your favorites! In the words of Britney Spears, “Gimme more, gimme gimme more!”

Born and raised in South Dakota, Courtney moved to the Wichita area in 2013 to follow her husband’s career as a lineman. After working in retail management for 12 years, she switched gears to stay at home with the kiddos and is also a Stylist with Stella & Dot to escape the kids now and then. To keep sane, Courtney likes to read, obsess over makeup and fashion, embarrass her kids, and eat chips and queso.
