Bring Your Family to “Summer Buzz” at Wichita’s Botanica Gardens in June!
Summer Buzz at Botanica Gardens in Wichita, KS is a botanical bonanza celebrating bees, butterflies, and all things summer. The event takes place on June 25th from 10am to 4pm and is the perfect family-friendly outing to kick off summer. The gardens will only be open to guests with Summer Buzz tickets on this day. All guests, including Botanica members, must purchase their tickets in advance. They are $12 for adults and $9 for youth and members.
Bees, Butterflies, and Pollinators…Oh My!
With the help of Presenting Sponsor Ascension Via Christi and Premier Sponsor Cox Communications, Botanica is proud to offer a day of family-filled fun. “This summer-themed event is designed with the whole family in mind,” said Kathy Spillman, Director of Special Events. “Multiple vendors and organizations have come together to offer unique experiences alongside Botanica’s favorite permanent attractions and our new “Washed Ashore” exhibit.”
Botanica’s gorgeous summer annuals provide the perfect backdrop as they celebrate bees and butterflies and their role as pollinators. Don’t forget to visit Botanica’s outdoor butterfly conservatory as live butterflies hatch and flutter from flower to flower. Special activities will be available from The Butterfly Hatchery, the only butterfly farm in Kansas. Visit the re-opened bee house for an up close and personal look at bees at work, and see if you can locate the queen bee. Don’t miss out on the honey tasting stations that will test your palette, and butterfly and bee-themed crafts to unleash your creativity.
What Else Is There to Do During the Event?
To go along with the celebration of pollinators, Botanica is offering activities and programming alongside the event. Guests are encouraged to play yard games and join the party with music from The Dance Man DJ Ronnie Choy. Get your face painted and leave your mark on the giant community sidewalk chalk mural. Be ready to break a sweat in the inflatable obstacle course as well as the inflatable orb race. Flow Foundry will be providing a portable aerial trapeze stand for guests to try out aerial yoga with hanging silks, as well as a hula hoop dance area. There will also be close up magical performances by Discord Illusions and food trucks to keep your energy up.
Even after you’ve done all the activities and interacted with every vendor, there is still plenty to see at Botanica. The 20 acres of the ever-changing botanical wonderland houses more than 30 themed areas and over 4,000 plant species. As guests wind through the gardens, they will also discover additional gems. Inspiring sculptures, relaxing water features, and even a ride on a restored 1949 carousel means Botanica is fun for the whole family.
