Insider Tips to Experience Tanganyika for A Great Price (or even FREE) This Summer

Sponsored by Tanganyika Wildlife Park.

Tanganyika Wildlife Park is a great destination for a fun day out with the family! With discounts on zoo tickets and activities throughout the year, there are plenty of ways to make a trip to Wichita’s wildlife park fit into your budget.

  1. Plan your visit in advance to get discounted tickets. Weekdays are cheaper than weekends. Single Day Pass tickets are $10 less than weekend tickets, which is a 25% discount. To cash in on your discount, click here, then select “Single Day Pass”, choose any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, select your tickets, and cash in on your 25% off savings.
  2. Take advantage of Wild Wednesdays. Every Wednesday during the summer, Tanganyika offers free tickets for kids with a paying adult. This is a great opportunity to bring your family to the zoo and enjoy free admission, feed giraffes & lorikeets, touch a kangaroo, and play in the splash park from 4pm to 8pm every Wednesday night in the summer.
  3. Bring a picnic lunch. While the zoo has a canteen full of delicious sandwiches, soft pretzels, mini melts ice cream and more, you are welcome to bring in your own picnic lunch and enjoy it between feeding a hippo and splashing in the water park.
  4. Become a season pass holder. If you think you’ll be visiting Tanganyika more than three times this season, then a membership is the way to go! With the Gold Membership, you can bring a guest each time for free, feed the animals as much as you want each visit, plus cash in on $150 gift card to use on our experiences. You can also save 10% on birthday parties, kid’s camps, and in-park purchases. The value of this pass is over $700 and it gives your family something to do all summer long.
  5. Go during off-peak hours. Weekdays, afternoons, and Wild Wednesdays are the quietest times at the park. If you want to make sure that you get to do all the feedings and skip the lines, these are the times to visit! It’s also the best time to chat with our feeding station attendants and keepers. They really are the best part of Tanganyika and have fabulous information for you!
  6. Make sure to download the Sunflower Summer app! Tanganyika will be participating again this year, with FREE admission on Mondays & Tuesday for app users.
  7. Check out city library passes! Some local libraries offer free or discounted passes to Tanganyika! If you have a library card, you can “borrow” a discovery pass the same way you borrow library books! Passes can be found at the following participating Wichita Area libraries (if yours isn’t listed, ask them to get one!):

Tanganyika Wildlife Park is a Zoological Association of America accredited and American Humane certified wildlife facility located just west of Wichita in Goddard, KS. With numerous animal encounter stations and other walk-through exhibits, they are the most interactive zoo in Kansas—and possibly the entire region. One of their top attractions, the Lemur Island, is the only one of its kind in the United States along with swimming with penguins. Additionally, Tanganyika is a top-notch breeding facility. Most notably, they are home to one of the largest collections of clouded leopards in the world. Tanganyika strives to share their passion for animals by providing real experiences that are entertaining and educational to form a bond between humans and the natural world.
