Visitors Guide to Wichita | Adults-Only Fun in ICT

When I moved to Wichita in 2002 to attend Wichita State University (Go Shox!) I heard over and over again “Really Wichita?”  Now that I have lived here almost as long as I have lived anywhere else I can say wholeheartedly moving to Wichita was the best decision I ever made.  I love this city and love being able to show it off to family and friends.  Previously I shared my Family Friendly Visitors guide to Wichita, but Wichita isn’t just for visitors with children.  Enjoy this Adults only guide to Wichita.

Girls Only

I have always had a dream that I would someday be a lady who brunched. You know those ladies that look completely put together in their coordinated athleisure gear or like they just stepped out of a fashion blogger’s Instagram feed and sit down with their friends to chat, drink and eat the perfect meal.  A girls weekend is my opportunity to do just that.  Starting the day off by visiting Healing WatersBeau Monde, or any one of Wichita’s fantastic Spas for a massage or a facial is a great way to get the day started.  Now that you are good and relaxed head on over to Homegrown for some of the best breakfast around and top it off with an adult juice, because why not you are women that brunch.  Local shopping in Wichita is something that should not be missed.  These are a few of my favorite shops to hit up for unique local finds.  Nifty Nut House, The Spice Merchant, The Workroom, Love of Character, Watermark Books, Apricot Lane, Clifton Collective, Lucinda’s, and K. Lanes.  If you are over shopping stop into Cocoa Dolce for a drink and a treat or check out Revolutsia to enjoy some ice cream at Little Lion Cafe or some traditional German delicacies at Prost.  For a girls evening out in Wichita I would recommend taking in a show at any one of the many live entertainment venues in town such as Roxy’s, the Orpheum Theatre, Crown Uptown or Mosley Street Melodrama.  Not up for all that excitement make the short trip out to Grace Hill Winery for a tasting and tour before heading back into Wichita for dinner.  Wind down your evening by enjoying dinner and drinks with your girl friends on anyone of Wichita’s best patio’s

Where the Boys Are

My husband has been friends with the same core group of guys since college, but over the years they have moved away.  When the guys can get together and come to town these are some of his favorite things to do to ensure they make the most out of their time.  Coffee at Reverie is a must and once everyone is properly caffeinated visiting one of Wichita’s many golf courses is a great way to spend the day, but if golf isn’t your thing or the weather does not permit the Wichita beer scene is not to be missed.  This is my husbands preferred route to capitalize off of the Q line as their primary mode of transportation.  Start your day at Central Standard Brewing, my husband’s recommends trying the Wizard of Hops and I personally love the overall vibe of CSB. Next stop Hopping Gnome, a fun name, great beer and wonderful staff what more could you want from a local brewery.  As your adventure continues your third stop brings you to the oldest brewery in town River City Brewery then followed by a short walk to Third Place Brewery.  Challenge the guys to a game of connect four or bags in Nortons Brewing Company’s great outdoor space before heading to Aero Plains via the Q.  Finally round out your beer tasting extravaganza by catching a ride to one of Wichita Brewing Company’s two locations for dinner and more fine beer.

Double Dates

If you are lucky enough to get to have an adult only night with your out of town friends why not try a progressive dinner.  Start at Vora and enjoy one of their fantastic starters then catch the Q line down to Piatto Neapolitan Pizzeria for great pizza or Sienna Tuscan Grill if you are in the mood for something a little fancier.  Between the atmosphere and the unique cocktails prepared by the in house “pharmacist” the subterranean speakeasy Dockum is the perfect location to top of your adults only night out.  Not interested in hopping around town to see the sights, plan your night out enjoying what can only be described as a culinary experience.  Elderslie Farm’s farm to table dinners with a wine pairing are a true foodies dream that provide the perfect atmosphere for an elegant adults only night out.   If none of these ideas strike your fancy be sure to check out our Ultimate list of Wichita Date Ideas to help set your course.

I really do love playing host to friends and family.  It gives me a chance to rediscover Wichita and experience all the sights and sounds that our fair city has to offer through the eyes of an outsider.  What are your go to destinations for an adults only tour of Wichita.
