Disclaimer :: While putting this post together, I had NO idea many of these tips were a thing (I’ve only done 9 of the 25 listed). Thank goodness for genius friends! Maybe by the end of 2020 I will have implemented all of them into my daily routine, right?!

7. Take a bowl to Costco (or Sams) to contain snack items for each kid

6. Place post it notes over the sensor of automatic toilet flushes so it doesn’t terrify sitting toddlers

5. Cut a sticker in half & place one in each shoe to help kids learn left from right

4. Keep kid scissors in your purse to cut restaurant straws to fit smaller kid cups

3. Use a Magic Eraser for EVERYTHING, including stainless steel appliances…& even your shoes

2. Use a candle warming plate to keep your coffee hot all day

…and the singular most popular mom hack of our modern day issues?!

1. WHAT TO DO WITH ALL THE ART PROJECTS! Take a phone pic of any art projects the second they come home, save it to an album (I have one for each kid), and toss the project into recycling (sometimes I keep seasonal ones up for decor before tossing). Keep ONLY the projects that bring a happy tear to your eye in a weathertight bin. At the end of the school year, create a photo book of the images in each album (Shutterfly, Chatbooks, etc). When they are older, they will have books of images from *most* every project they ever created, and it only takes up a small space on the bookshelf.

Let us know any mom hacks you would add to the list…

Erin Hughes
Born & raised on a cattle farm just west of Salina, Erin has grown to love the city life that Wichita has to offer. She & her husband, Nathan, are raising their family on the east side: Blakely (Dec 2013), Rowen (Apr 2015), & Lincoln (Jun 2017). Erin formerly taught elementary for 6 years. When the chaos of 2 under 2 happened so quickly (oops!), she decided to leave teaching for now, and work-from-home as the premier photographer of Erin Kata Photography. When the calendar allows breaks from the multitude of children's activities, photo sessions, editing & teaching workshops, you will more than likely find Erin & the fam somewhere outdoors: dancing in the rain, playing in sunshine, and even tromping through the snow!
