5 Favorite Pizza Joints in Wichita

I’ve always been a beer and pizza kind of gal. Although I’m not a “foodie”, I’ve loved writing these “best of” posts featuring our city’s most amazing food dives. (See WMB’s Best of Burgers and Best of Tacos.) I’d like to think that I’ve become that lovable food critic Julia Roberts played in My Best Friend’s Wedding, thus designating myself as our house’s official self-proclaimed food connoisseur (with big hair) and I really do like Jello. So when doing the hard work of researching Favorite Pizza in Wichita, the hardest part is narrowing it down to a “readable and relatable” top 5.

So here are a few of my favorite pizza places around town:

Wichita Brewing Company

East side or west side, come for the beer, stay for the pizza. This is a wood fire pizza and beer joint that never disappoints. Our family is partial to the PepPep Pepperoni with black olives. The crust is a little crispy and the red sauce makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Secret mom hack: Going on the weekend? Check in on YELP.

Piatto Neapolitan

Located on Douglas with a 900*F brick oven, pizzas are ready in 60-90 seconds! Great flavor, good service, and since it is right next door to the Hoppy Gnome, I’d go ahead and make this an extended evening for a girls’ night or date night without kids.

Picasso’s

If you love New York style crust, this pizza embodies it! We frequent their Delano location (woot-woot West Side) but there is also an east location. We enjoy the charm of the neighborhood and back patio as much as the Heart Attack with black olives (WARNING: heart burn likely to follow, so maybe only order one slice.)

AJ’s Sports Grill

If you are throwing a party, AJ’s has you covered. Once a year, the day after Thanksgiving, our entire family extended bowls. AJ’s Perfect 300 Superdome (29”) feeds our army of hungry bowlers including 6 teen boys, 2 teen girls, 2 young kids, and 8 adults without fail. (Warning: take the measurements seriously if you are carrying this out.)

Knolla’s Pizza

This is our carry-out go to for game day, parties, and babysitters. Knolla’s covers the range of tastes in our house including the never ending battle of Chicago vs. New Year style crust. Oh, and order a side of their ranch…just because.

Honorable Mentions

Il Vicino gets a shout out for our best date night atmosphere and surprisingly refreshing Mango Unsweet Tea.

Gambino’s in Colwich secret diet hack–they have T.H.E. BEST low carb-Keto approved cauliflower crust pizza in all of the land!

All pizza is not formed equally, Ziggy’s pizza’s are rectangular, and exceptionally good. As the weather turns warmer, we enjoy meeting our friends and their fur babies on the patio of their College Hill Square location but again, a shout out to west side, look for Ziggy’s at the corner of 13th and Tyler.

What’s your favorite pizza place?
