10 Best Bike Paths in Wichita to Ride with Kids

Looking for a fun (and safe) spot to take a family bike ride? These 10 bike paths are the most popular recommendations from Wichita moms in our Neighborhood Groups. 

Best Bike Paths in Wichita to Ride with Kids

Arkansas River Path (Downtown)

This 10.8 mile scenic path goes through the heart of Wichita, along the river, and and provides access to parks and multiple city attractions. There are plenty of places to park along the path as well as many quiet stretches to explore. *dogs allowed

Chapin Park Path (South)

At Hydraulic and Macarthur, there is a mountain bike trail, 6-ft walking trail and dog park. *dogs allowed

Chisolm Creek Park (North)

2.5 miles of paved trails that cross native and restored prairies, wetlands, ponds, and woodlands. Bikes must stay on the bike path on the outside perimeter of the park – entrance off of Oliver St. *dogs allowed (must stay on bike path).

Best Bike Paths in WichitaHigh Park (Derby)

With over 20 miles of hiking and biking, Derby has great biking options for the whole family. Here is a map of the 1.5 mile bike loop around High Park. 

OJ Watson Park (South)

Part of the Arkansas Bike Path, OJ Watson Park has many other amenities for the whole family. 

Pawnee Prairie Park (Southwest)

With dedicated paved paths for bikers, families can park at the Tyler Road parking lot. Be prepared for horse sightings (and also make sure to yield as equestrians have the right of way). See the yellow map for bike path*dogs allowed

Prairie Sunset Trail (West)

Spanning 15 miles from Garden Plain through Goddard to Hoover Street in Wichita, this trail is a great Kansas outdoors experience. 

Red Bud Trail (East)

The Red Bud Trail is paved from 159th all the way through Andover to US Hwy 54. There is an area to park along the trail in Andover along Main St. (near the stadium). This trail runs from near downtown Wichita at I-135 through the city by Wesley Hospital and then near Wichita State University. It continues east towards Andover and then Augusta. Within Wichita city limits the trail is paved to Woodlawn, with a nice crossing to connect to the Armour Bike Boulevard.

Sand Creek Bike Path (Newton)

Nearly 7 miles in total, this path comes recommended from many mamas! Biking along the path is a natural experience along Sand Creek where many can be seen fishing or simply enjoying the view. 

Sedgwick County Park (West)

A 4.2 mile loop around the park which includes a lot of amenities for families including 4 fishing ponds, a kids pond, playgrounds and more. *dogs allowed
