Expanding Our Community: Midwest Modern Woman Summit {Event Recap}

The mission of Wichita Moms Blog is to connect local moms, empower and support women, and most importantly to build community. And we’ve been busy with brainstorming ideas, collaborations, and ways to continue to expand this incredible community! Most recently, we have been expanding our community by co-hosting the Midwest Modern Woman Summit and launching She Means Business,  a campaign featuring women who deserve recognition for their inspiring work and passions (stay tuned for more featured women in the coming months).

Earlier this month we partnered with community and WMB-favorite, Love of Character, to bring a new collaborative community to support and encourage women small business owners, side-hustlers, and creatives. With a goal of being equal parts Instagram-worthy and educational, we put together a test-run event focusing on collaborative networking, community building, and brainstorming to help local women looking to grow their business and network with other entrepreneurs. And Mary’s new space was the perfect, intimate setting – go ahead and see for yourself. Warning: It’s breathtaking!

Below is a look in beautiful photos by our very own Sally Cavanaugh Films and Photos, and our favorite part is that so many of our very own business-owning team members and partners were part of this beautiful event. Enjoy!

WMB Content Manager Erin Bartel is quite the hustler and also owns Elite Media Ink, a social media marketing and management company. And she killed it with her presentation on how to navigate the world of digital marketing (hint: it’s a beast). And local mom Abby Storey is a lifestyle blogger at And So The Storey Begins and shared so many nuggets on natural light, photography, and how to up your Insta game. Check out her beautiful photos and event recap here.

One of the highlights of the day was our Girl Boss Panel featuring Lisa of Nectar Republic, Juliana of Everyday Beaut and Clifton Collective, and Sumer and Emily of Central Standard Brewing. Just like motherhood, it’s always so helpful to hear from others who are in the thick of the stage of life/business you are in. We learned so much from these inspiring women!

How gorgeous is this new space at Love of Character? It embodied the entire essence we hoped to capture: bright, cheerful, elegant – and we had so much fun with the branding, which we wanted to be feminine + bold. We also partnered with some girl boss favorites – Songbird Juice, September Moon (regulars at WMB events), Leslie Coffee, and Freestate Flora. How gorgeous is that wreath?

Of course our attendees walked away with some killer swag (our personal favorites are the “Do the Hustle” notepads and WMB Founder Angela’s favorite book of the year: Work Party by Jaclyn Johnson. Must read now!) And not pictured are the gorgeous earrings all attendees received from Renee at McFather Designs. Too cute!

We had a day full of learning, aesthetically pleasing decor and visuals, laughter, networking, and knowledge-sharing with other women. Now that we have our test run under our belts, we hope to do more of these type of events. We would LOVE to know what type of professional development type of events you might like to see. Let us know in the comments below!

And again, thank you to Sally Cavanaugh Films and Photos for beautifully capturing this event.
