5 Favorite Locally-Owned Restaurants in Derby

pizza John's Derby KSDerby is growing so fast,  which means more options for eating! These are our favorite locally-owned restaurants in Derby that are worth checking out!

Pizza John’s | 208 S Baltimore Ave

Open Monday-Saturday 11am-9pm with delivery available 5-8:30pm.

You can dine in, order carryout or delivery. Pizza John’s has an assortment of pizzas, sandwiches and pasta. You really can’t go wrong with anything here. Some local favorites are Sara’s Salad, Turkey Sandwich, Cheese bread, beef pizza and BBQ chicken pizza.

Sharon’s Place Hawaiian Restaurant | 141 E Kay St, Suite #400

Open Tuesday-Friday 11am-8pm and Saturdays 11am-2pm

Enjoy dine in or carry out at Sharon’s. Sharon’s is a local favorite and a hidden gem. It’s definitely worthy of a visit so give it a try! Locals here rave about the Loco Moco, a ½ lb beef patty topped with brown gravy & an egg of your choice served over white rice with two sides. How unique and delicious does that sound? Other must haves are the mac salad, Surf & Turf Plate, Bread Pudding and homemade Hawaiian rolls. Seriously. So good!

Casa Martinez | 204 W Greenway

Open Tuesday-Thursday 11am-2pm & 5-9pm, Friday & Saturday 11am-9:30pm and Sunday 11am-8pm.

Derby has no shortage of Mexican restaurants but a few stand out and Casa Martinez is one of them. Dine in or carry out but don’t miss out! If you head there you can never go wrong with any of their tacos and queso. Never miss out on queso. Queso is my love language and trust me when I say this one is good. Also delicious is the chicken enchiladas and the Mexican Combo Plate #1. Don’t pass this place by!

Little Buster’s Sports Bar  | 457 N Baltimore Ave

Open every day 11am-2am

Dine in or carry out is available at Little Busters. Do not pass this place up. We lived in Derby a few years before trying this spot because we weren’t sure if it’s kid friendly and it sure is. They have a great menu with lots of variety, full bar (bonus!) and a kid’s menu. It is one of our go to spots with the kiddos! They also host fun events like trivia nights, singo music bingo for some family fun and lots of specials weekly and for special sporting events. We love their mini corn dogs, tots, waffle fries and pub pickles for sides or apps. The cheesiest cheeseburger, nachos and philly cheese can’t be missed either!

Little Firehouse Cafe | 120 N Baltimore Ave

Open Tuesday-Sunday 7am-1pm

This local breakfast and lunch spot can’t be missed! It’s decorated with tons of firemen gear and equipment including a pole with a fireman coming down! It’s a great family friendly spot. They have delicious daily lunch specials and a can’t miss breakfast. It’s a smaller menu with a lot of classic comfort foods. Don’t miss the patty melt or hot roast beef sandwich for lunch. For breakfast, biscuits and gravy are a hit but the HUGE pancake is the biggest hit for our family!
