Some of our favorite fall (and late summer) family bucket list activities are peach and apple picking in Wichita and the surrounding areas! We’ve compiled a list of You-Pick orchards in Wichita (and a few that offer pre-picked produce) for fruit lovers of all ages. Depending on the season, you can grab a bushel and a peck of apples, peaches, or pears. Be sure to call before you make the drive to one of these orchards so you know what’s available!
Thank you to Meadowlark Farm for sponsoring this guide and providing fall fun for the community!
Apple Picking and You-Pick Farms in Wichita
Apple Picking Season
The Meadowlark apple orchard comprises more than 2000 trees, of more than 20 apple varieties. The earliest apples ripen in July, and latest ripen in November, allowing local families to pick-your-own for four months each season. As each apple variety ripens, Meadowlark posts a description on their Facebook Page.
Special Family-Friendly Events
In late September and into October, there will be 3 sweet cider pressing days (dates TBA on Facebook), where you can see the entire process from fresh picked apples to delicious sweet cider in the jug. Occasional live music in the evenings that can be combined with evening apple picking with cooler temperatures and nice light for awesome photos – watch Facebook posts.
Families can enjoy strawberry picking in May, and peach picking in July and August.
