Dance your way into the holiday season by attending a performance of Ballet Wichita’s Nutcracker. With a rich history as one of the largest and oldest arts organizations in Wichita, Ballet Wichita is raising the curtain on a new and exciting vision for the future with the 45th annual production. This year, we have a new artistic director, Alex Ossadnik, who is working hard to create a traditional, magical Nutcracker performance for the city of Wichita. His vision and choreography are coming to life in a beautiful way, and we are so excited to share!
Besides the choreography, our set designs are getting an amazing makeover. Emmy Award Nominee Michael Downs, one of Wichita’s most celebrated set designers, is collaborating with Ballet Wichita to create stunning new set design. A beautifully painted Christmas tree of your dreams will set the scene for our Nutcracker story. New costumes will also be making an appearance on the 126 local dancers performing in the show. Plus, we are lucky to have the Ballet Wichita Symphony performing Tchaikovsky’s score live at each performance – Wichita’s only Nutcracker to have such. Ossadnik has done an incredible job working with the talent and resources we have available here in this great city.
