Timeless Gifts for the Home

Do you know someone who recently moved or bought their first home? Someone new to the area and community? Nothing says welcome or congratulations like a thoughtful housewarming gift. Below are our go-to favorite gift ideas, most $20 or less!

Local Swag or Artwork: This is our favorite local gift idea for someone who has moved into a new home or even for a host/hostess gift. There are so many great local shops with ICT swag: Love of Character, Clifton Collective, Lucinda’s, The Workroom to name a few. And Elisabeth Owens is a local mom and one of our favorite artists most known for her ICT flag art.

Whiskey or Wine Decanter: Pick up your favorite bottle of wine or whiskey and pair it with a decanter, and you’ve got yourself a really nice housewarming gift.

Letterboard: Such a fun and inexpensive gift idea you can personalize with a “Home Sweet Home” or “There’s No Place Like Home” quote. Letterboards are all the rage and would be a thoughtful gift for a new home owner.

Coffee Table Book: We LOVE a good coffee table book, especially if it has beautiful photos. Interior designer Emily Henderson’s Styled is a great option for a new homeowner, and it has a great “design quiz” to help uncover your home style.

House PlantWho doesn’t love a new plant? Whether the new home owner is a green or brown thumb, there are a lot of options of easy-to-maintain houseplants. Locally, Clifton Collective has a cute succulent selection, and if in a pinch, you can order them online too. Who knew?

CoastersCoasters are another inexpensive, safe bet when it comes to a housewarming gift. We love these because they are neutral and a classic marble material with a bamboo holder.

Hand Towels: People rave about these William Sonoma Hand Towels as the perfect go-to gift. You can get a set of for for $19.95 or as low as $15 when on sale – you can’t beat that!

Stamp with Address: We love anything personalized as it says “I see you”. One of our favorite gift ideas for a new home owner is a stamp with their address to use for mail. Etsy is a great spot to find one as there are hundreds of options.

Gifts for Entertaining: How fun are these Chalkboard Cheese Markers? Such a fun and unique gift idea perfect for the homeowner who loves entertaining!

Candle: Call it cliché, but one of our very favorite gifts we received last Christmas was this candle from Bath and Body Works. Candles are the perfect, inexpensive, and classic gift to make a house smell like a home.  A few other favorites are the Homesick (Kansas) candle and we love ALL the candles from Love of Character and Nectar Republic.

Air Diffuser: Even if you’re not into Essential Oils, a diffuser is a great gift idea. They are a unique, inexpensive way to make a room smell happy, and these little diffusers are under $19 and come in a variety of colors (one changes colors which is perfect for a child’s room)!

Doormat: Target always has the cutest Welcome Mats, but we are partial to this KS Doormat. It screams hello and shows local love to a new homeowner!
