Andover eCademy is a K-12 blended virtual school open to all students in Kansas that enables students to take ownership of their learning. They combine the benefits of the virtual and traditional classrooms providing a flexible schedule centered around your family’s needs. This approach to education has proven to create an environment that leads to a natural love for learning.
There are many reasons why families enroll their children in Andover eCademy’s blended virtual school. One eCademy student is a gymnast who competes throughout the nation; another has a child with medical issues requiring daily treatments; and others want to be able to spend more time together, eCademy is a great option for many reasons.
10 Realities of A Virtual Education with Andover eCademy:
1. Blended Learning Environment: Andover eCademy has its own classrooms in a brick-and-mortar school where students, as an option, can participate in regular group lessons and activities led by teachers. These face-to-face sessions help augment online learning while also providing students with opportunities for social interaction.
2. Learning Coach Involvement: Our students are required to have a learning coach at home (often a parent) who will partner with us to provide the best education for their students. They get to be a part of their child’s daily education by helping provide instruction and growth opportunities. Learning Coaches partner with their child’s teacher to ensure that we are truly helping each student reach their full potential as a team.
3. Flexible Schedule: Students can perform their schoolwork on a schedule that fits their family’s needs. They can spend more time on difficult lessons, or work quickly through subjects learned easily. This flexibility also allows students opportunities to succeed in and out of the classroom. Although students are allowed a flexible schedule, deadlines are assigned for lessons and tests to ensure standards and accountability are maintained.
4. Teacher Support: Andover eCademy teachers are all highly qualified and Kansas certified. Teachers monitor student progress, provide grading feedback, and proactively interact with students and parents. Teachers are available for questions and support via phone, Zoom, email, and face-to-face interaction.
5. Technology: Students develop firsthand the imperative skills in communication and problem-solving that are required in today’s tech-fueled workforce. All students have a Chromebook computer checked out to them for accessing their online lessons and completing assignments.
6. Tuition Free: eCademy is part of the Andover Public School System, and as such is tuition-free. There is a $40 fee per student assessed yearly. eCademy is open to all students who reside in the state of Kansas.
7. In-House Days: Teachers hold regular in-house sessions that provide students with face-to-face interaction with teachers and other students. These sessions are used for classroom presentations, lessons, interactive activities, science labs, writing workshops, field trips, and social events.
8. Social Opportunities: Students at each grade level have an opportunity at least once a month to come into our building in Andover to participate in a social activity. Students also often spend time in extracurricular activities with club sports, music theater, and many other activities offered through the community.
9. College Credits: High school students have the opportunity to enroll in college courses for dual credit for both high school and college. It is even possible for a student to take enough college coursework to earn an Associate’s Degree while still attending eCademy.
10. Academic Success: eCademy students consistently perform above local, state, and national averages in assessment reports. The academic honors and college scholarships earned by eCademy students show their success has no limitations.
