Over spring break, my husband, 2 kids, and I visited Acorns Resort at Milford Lake. Just about 2 hours away from Wichita, this location has all you need for outdoorsy lakeside fun with the family!
Accommodations:
The resort is expansive with many cabin options, RV and tent camping spots, and a lodge with hotel like rooms. We chose cabin number 17, compete with a full kitchen and living area, one bedroom with queen bed, a loft with 2 full sized beds for the kids, and one full bathroom. It’s equipped with all you need from kitchenware, appliances, bath towels and more. On the way, stopped at the nearby grocery store in Junction City to stock up on meats and veggies to grill, sandwich items for picnics, breakfast goods, snacks and drinks.

The cabin exterior features a concrete patio with a picnic table and outdoor chairs. Each space has a charcoal grill and a fire pit steps away where we enjoyed roasting s’mores!

We enjoyed our cabin’s location as the back patio area faces west and was steps away from the lake. Each evening after dinner, we were able to take a very short stroll, throw out the picnic blanket and watch the sunset over the lake.
Activities:
There is no shortage of outdoor activities to enjoy. Hunting, fishing, hiking, a sandy beach and swim area, and rentals for boats, kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards. We enjoyed fishing off the dock and the kids played for hours in the sand.

We went on a scavenger hunt around the property as well. There are walking paths that wind through the resort grounds taking you through wooded areas and around the banks of the lake. It’s a nice, scenic hike.
The Cove is a restaurant and bar located on site with a large patio overlooking the lake. There are live music events in the spring and summer as well!
The resort office and store has a good selection of all that you need from groceries, kid and adult drinks, outdoor toys, fishing gear, medicine and more.
If you’re considering a visit, book now! They do fill quickly in the peak travel season.
