Volunteers

Wichita Junior Golf Foundation requires every junior golfer’s parent to volunteer one week during the summer session to assist with walking with juniors on the course, helping them to keep score and ensure they make it back to the clubhouse in a timely manner. No previous golf experience is needed for this volunteer.

The Course Leader will reach out to all parents after registration closes to start getting volunteers signed up for each week at the golf courses.

The Wichita Junior Golf program is conducted by volunteers who provide the opportunity for juniors to learn the rules, etiquette, and skills of golf. We had Course Leaders who have led programs for 15+ years. These people lead the Foundation’s efforts to develop children into responsible adults.

Wichita Junior Golf Foundation is always looking for folks in the community with golf knowledge to assist during weekly sessions.

We need volunteers to help with the following:

  • share basic knowledge of putting and chipping with beginners
  • supervise young golfers on the golf course
  • assist leaders with the program as needed

Contact us for details or to register as a volunteer during the summer.

College Scholarships

Each year college scholarships are awarded to young persons who have been involved in the Wichita Junior Golf Foundation for at least three years. Juniors who are attending a four-year, two-year, or technical college are welcome to apply. The applicant does not have to be playing college golf on a school team to apply.

Junior golfers are eligible to apply upon completion of their junior year in high school.

Applications are judged based on answers to essay questions, leadership, high school scholastic performance and years in the program, with financial need being the last criteria.

The monetary amount depends on the number of qualified applicants and the associated programs which also provide scholarship funding. Past scholarships have been offered as high as $10,000 to junior golfers.

The $25 spent each summer is well worth the opportunity to apply for a college scholarship! For details, please visit wichitajuniorgolf.com.
