Visit a kid-friendly museum in Wichita.

We are so lucky to have so many great kid-friendly museums in Wichita. A few museums hosting special kid-friendly activities this spring break are:

Museum of World Treasures
Wichita Art Museum Creation Vacation
Exploration Place – the new Illusions exhibit is so enjoyable for kids of all ages and the Exploration Place Destination Playscape is opening just in time for Spring Break on March 13th!

Exploration Place Outdoor PlayscapeLearn about animals and nature at Great Plains Nature Center (all activities are free!)

Great Plains Nature Center is one of our favorite family-friendly gems here in Wichita. We love to take a walk around the paths on a nice day. And they always host a full week of free nature activities for spring break. Each day of this FREE event will have a different group of animals for you to explore- Reptiles (16th), Mammals (17th), Amphibians (18th), and Birds (19th). This 4-day event is designed for elementary age, but it’s open to all ages.

Get crafty at a local art spot.

My daughters love getting crafty and anything to do with art. The Art Park is hosting day camps which we have been to and love! And we really love the open art studio at Paint the Towne. It isn’t led by an instructor, but you get to pick out an art project and run with it! You can also visit Karg Art Glass in Kechi and watch or blow your own glass. It’s the cutest little shop.

Play and dine with $2 Kids Meals at Chicken N Pickle.

Chicken N Pickle is such a Wichita gem. We love to grab lunch while the kids play with the outdoor yards games. Spring Break week, on Monday-Wednesday from 11am-2pm, Chicken N Pickle will have $2 kids meals and daily free activities. Monday is face painting, Tuesday is balloon art, and Wednesday is a children’s musician.

Explore parks and playgrounds in and around Wichita.

We updated our list of favorite parks in Wichita – there are so many good ones, and we added 3 more this year! We are so lucky to have so many great options. And a follower favorite is our 8 Playgrounds Worth Going Out of Your Way For (kids love these spots, and moms too)!

Wichita Inclusive PlaygroundCheck out Spring Break and Wonder Wednesdays for little ones at Botanica.

This is a great option to get your little ones out of the house and into a world of stories, songs, and creativity! Wonder Wednesdays at Botanica offer a welcoming, engaging experience designed especially for young learners ages 3–5. And of course you can explore the Children’s Garden if it’s a nice day and the Koch Carousel Gardens.

Botanica is also hosting various activities during spring break – with chalk art, giant bubbles, and hands-on garden crafts.

Visit the Sedgwick County Zoo.

What’s not to love about our zoo? This is a go-to for our kids no matter their age. In addition to a day trip visit to the zoo, SCZ is hosting their WOW Spring Fling Spring Break Camps. Their programming tends to fill up quickly because they do such a phenomenal job – kids love their camps. Spring Fling is for grades Kindergarten through 5th on Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20, 2026, 9 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Visit the Best Indoor Spots in Wichita for Kids (save this for when it’s cold or rainy).

These are our favorite local spots to play indoors when it’s rainy, cold or hot – could be all three in the same day in Wichita. There is something for all ages whether it’s play places, indoor playgrounds, bowling, trampoline parks, libraries, hands on stem learning, and more.

Things to Do Wichita

Get outdoors and visit one of our favorite kid-friendly adventures near Wichita.

There’s nothing we love more than getting outside, especially when it involves exploring, hiking, or biking around the Wichita area. And yes! Wichita does offer outdoor spots to explore, you just have to know where to go. We asked dozens of Wichita families, and below are some favorite kid-friendly outdoor adventures and spots local parents take their kids when they need to get out of the house. Here are the best kid friendly places to go explore and hike around Wichita!

Have a staycation and stay at a hotel with an indoor pool.

Maybe it’s just my kids, but sometimes the fun is all in sleeping in a bed that isn’t yours and swimming in a basic indoor hotel pool. The thrill of childhood is so sweet. Here is a roundup of Wichita hotels that have indoor pools. If you do make a reservation, make sure their pool is open this time of year – so many spots do renovations this time of year.
