Cheap Summer Fun! $2 Family Movies at Regal Cinemas & Derby Plaza


There is just something about summer movies with kids, whether it’s at the drive-in, a specialty theater, or the neighborhood movie theaters we love – it’s so special to take the kids. Of course we love the popcorn and movie snacks too!

Wichita has several cheap (and some free!) movie programs this summer, such a fun and inexpensive activity for the whole family!

Regal Summer Movie Express | $2 Family Movies

Summer movie express tickets are just $2 every Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Regal Warren East & West. This is a favorite summer movies with kids program! *Times are updated one week in advance each week and are subject to change, and you may book your seat here.

Movies in the Park | Capital Federal Amphitheater®

Andover Central Park is the home to the Capitol Federal Amphitheater which will be hosting FREE family movie nights in July and August. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the movies in the great outdoors beginning at 7pm.

Derby Plaza Theaters | $2 Summertime Movies

Another favorite summer movies with kids program! Showtime begins at 10:30 am and admission is $2.00 for all ages. There will be $6.00 kiddie combo which includes a small popcorn, drink, and candy. 

If you want to have a truly unique moving going experience Starlite Drive-In is the perfect option.  Starlite offers double features every Friday through Sunday during the summer. Ticket office opens 1 hour before dusk so if you plan to stay for the double feature consider bringing blankets and pillows may make your full evening of movie going a little more comfortable. Be sure to check their website for the most up to date list of features.

Ages 3-11:  $4
Age 12 and over:  $9

    We will be hosting a free movie event in the park on June 22nd watching the new Capatin Marvel movie! Cholita’s Mexican Restaurant will be there selling street tacos with the proceeds going to the Cholita’s Strikers soccer club!

  3. Dive-In Movies: Moana (rated PG)

    When: Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 8 PM – 11 PM
    Where: Aley Swimming Pool (1800 S. Seneca, 67213)

    Kick back and float in the pool while you watch a movie on the big screen under the stars! We’ll have three Dive-In Movie events this summer. Visit for more information.

    Prices & Admission:
    Tickets are LIMITED! Purchase tickets in advance at the pool where the movie is being held to reserve your spot.
    – $2 per person, Ages 13+
    – $1 per person, Ages 3-12
    – Children ages 2 and under are free, but must be within arms-length of an adult at all times

    Doors open at 8pm; movie starts around 8:30pm.

  4. Can you please clarify… The article says that the Regal $1 movies will be “Beginning Tuesday, June 1st and ending Wednesday, August 4th,” followed by 16 weeks’ worth of movies. There are only 10 weeks in the June 1-Aug 4 interval. Is there an error in the start/end date?

    • You are right – that is confusing! It’s different in every city, and they just updated Wichita’s today (it looks like they are releasing tickets one week at a time), and with different times each day.

      The program runs 10 weeks in ICT.
