☀️ Free Admission on Sundays at Old Cowtown Museum – Step back in time and enjoy a wagon ride or try a sarsparilla at Old Cowtown Museum, admission is FREE on Sundays from April – October.

☀️ Ballet Wichita’s FREE performances of Tom Sawyer in the park! Tom Sawyer is a newly commissioned ballet based on the novel by Mark Twain, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.Bring your lawn chairs & blankets, and enjoy the show! Check back for more info when dates, locations, and times have been released.

☀️ Get your sweat on with a free stroller workout at Bradley Fair! There are lots of adult-friendly options, but these 2 are great for moms & little ones:

☀️ Attend one of 5 FREE family concerts in Naftzger Park hosted by the Wichita Public Library! After much success last summer, the Library will host four days of family-friendly concerts at Naftzger (10:30 a.m.) and Riverside (3 p.m.) Parks! These concerts are free – just bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen and snacks!

☀️ Attend Metropolitan Ballet’s FREE performance of The Last Unicorn in the park! Enjoy a magical ballet outdoors with the entire family. The Last Unicorn is an original ballet based on the book by Peter S. Beagle about a beautiful unicorn who sets out to learn if she truly is the last of her kind. Be sure to bring your blanket or chairs. Dressing up as a unicorn, wizard, or any favorite costume is always encouraged!

☀️ Track down the Little Free Library nearest you! Donate the books your kids have outgrown and pick out some new ones to fill your shelves! There are Little Free Libraries all around Wichita – check out our map here.

☀️ Don’t miss the Red, White & BOOM! Fireworks Display on July 4th! Fireworks will be launched east of Riverfront Stadium. Food trucks will be set up just south of the Hyatt Lawn at 7:00pm, so come early to grab a good spot.

Make sure you’re there by 9:40pm when fireworks light the sky over the Arkansas River. However, if the Wind Surge game is still being played at that time, the show will begin ten minutes after the completion of the game.

☀️ Take A Ride on the Q-Line – These buses (the trolleys have retired) are FREE and run loops through downtown Wichita, the Douglas Design District, and College Hill!

☀️ Shakespeare in the Park, anyone? The Wichita Shakespeare Company will present Comedy of Errors in various parks around Wichita in June. Admission is free; bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets!

☀️ Visit the Riverside Park, Zoo & Splash Park – Tour the outdoor wildlife exhibit, go wild on the playground, and cool off in the interactive water water fountains! Make a day of it, and bring a picnic lunch.

☀️ Attend one of 6 concerts in the park in partnership between the Wichita Symphony and Wichita Park & Recreation on May 20th. All performances are free to attend. Bring your blankets and chairs to listen to the music in comfort. 

Enjoy beautiful music with the entire family, while you relax outdoors. Venture to one of the six featured parks to hear these talented musicians. Your kids will be mesmerized listening to Symphony musicians performing music from their favorite Disney movies and more. This truly unique experience is one you don’t want to miss.

☀️  FREE outdoor concerts are taking place every Thursday in June at Bradley Fair!

Bradley Fair is introducing new music genres to this summer tradition including bluegrass and R&B performances, plus the annual capstone fireworks show. The live music starts each Thursday in June at 7:30 p.m. as the sun sets on the open-air iconic Bradley Fair Plaza. Don’t miss the new Listening Lounge featuring Central Standard Brewing this year as you find a spot on The Plaza or set up picnics around The Lake with takeout or desserts from Bradley Fair restaurants. Newport Grill will staff bars on The Plaza and kid-friendly activities will be available lakeside.

Wildlifer Challenge

Can YOU complete the WildLifer Challenge? Join us during our Outdoor Kansas (O.K.) Kids event on June 4th from 10 am to 1 pm. Kids will face up against hikes, archery, fishing, crafts, and more! Completion of this challenge makes your kid a bona fide wild child and may even earn them some prizes! This event is brought to you by Kansas Wildscape to encourage young outdoor enthusiasts to have some fun under the Kansas sun!

☀️ Free Family ArtVenture Events at Wichita Art Museum

Explore, look, and take part in art together with a FREE Family ArtVenture, featuring special gallery activities and hands-on artmaking projects that bring WAM’s art exhibitions to life. No reservations are required, and you may drop in anytime on select Saturdays between 11 am and 3 pm. Stay for an hour, or stay for the afternoon. Activities take place throughout the museum.

☀️ Keeper of the Plains/Troll/Lighting of Ring of Fire – Visit Wichita’s most well-known landmark, the Keeper of the Plains and stay for the lighting of the Ring of Fire at 9pm! Brave souls can search for the Wichita Troll while you’re there.
