Wichita Mom Picks: 15 Perfect Fall Date Night (or Day) Ideas

Summer’s end might be disappointing for some, but autumn has a charm that we can’t deny. The cooler weather, seasonal food, fall wardrobe staples, and the changing leaves captivate us, and dating during this season is just dreamy.

Autumn sets an ideal backdrop for connecting with our loved ones and we can’t pass on that opportunity! Here are three simple date intentions you can use to inspire a delightful evening with your Boo ( ?).

Intention: Wearing Plaid

About two weeks after Labor Day until the day after Thanksgiving, I break out my favorite fall plaid tops (not to be confused with all year plaid). Apparently I’m not alone because social media becomes filled with cliché plaid wearing, especially on a cute fall dates, and I love it. Here are some ideas of where you can have a date wearing your favorite autumn plaid.

Ax Throwing.

Show your date how  crazy  skilled you are by throwing an ax at a target. Plaid is cute in the fall but looks even better when you’re holding an ax.

Apple picking or pumpkin patch.

Gathering food is fun and a sweet date but it can be dirty playing on a farm or in a field of trees. Plaid holds up well and keeps you comfortable. It is cozy and warm but you can layer it so in case it gets too hot, tie it around your waist, which also looks adorable.

Pumpkin carving.

There is something undeniably romantic about carving pumpkins. Maybe it is because it is part spooky and part competitive. Either way, your plaid shirt has your back with sleeves that roll up easily and it wipes off nicely from the messy work.

Fall leaves afternoon drive.

Enjoy a drive with your sweetie, the dog, and your favorite tunes through some fiery red and orange tree-lined roads. If you time it right you can park somewhere to watch the sunset. Your plaid shirt will not wrinkle under the seatbelt, and it will keep you warm with the windows down or the sunroof open.

Intention: To Cuddle (Bonus if you can bring a blanket!)

Hay rides.

These rides always seem a little over packed, which works to your advantage on a date. Snuggling up on a hay ride on a fall evening might just be the sweetest moment of the season.

Outdoor entertainment.

Choose outdoor concerts, Friday night football games, festivals like Oktoberfest or chili cook offs, outdoor markets, make a picnic, or go to a venue like Chicken N Pickle where you can spend time outside. The crisp autumn air will have you cuddling up to stay warm, and once winter hits, the opportunity to be outside is gone.

Haunted house.

There is no way to go through a haunted house without clinging to your date. Sounds like a perfect date night activity for that reason alone!

Restaurants with fireplaces.

There are limited tables you can get in front of a fireplace at a restaurant, but if you happen to score those seats, it makes for a pretty intimate night. Getting cozy around a fire is instinctual.

Bonfires.

Speaking of fires, a fire under the stars turns up the romance dial quite a lot. Find someone who is hosting a bonfire and bring a date, or make a small version in your back yard to snuggle up around.

The Q-Line.

If you are local to Wichita, then you have got to take advantage of this fun (and free) service. The Q-Line benches are sized for two, and the stops are far enough apart to settle into a nice cuddle. In the fall time, the weather is perfect to hop on and off the line and enjoy the evening downtown culture.

Intention: A Little Indulgence

Celebrate the end of swimsuit season with decadent food, desserts, and beverages. Whatever indulgence means to you and your love, autumn is an excellent season to treat yourself, and also take a moment to pause and reflect before the hustle of the upcoming holidays.

Brick oven pizza.

Pizza straight out of an open-fire oven doesn’t fit well on a hot day, but is much more appreciated for a fall date night dinner.

Chicken and waffles.

They warm your heart and your belly, chicken and waffles are a little quirky and fun which fits the vibe of autumn very nicely.

Chocolate tasting.

You don’t have to be a foodie to know chocolate has many different applications. Dedicating a date night to tasting a few different chocolates is interesting and feels very indulgent. Ideal for a romantic fall night.

Get a PSL, Salted Caramel, or hot Apple Cider drink.

They are staples for a reason, right? Yummy drinks make a date cozy.

Go Wine tasting.

Rosé all day? Not in the fall. Expand your wine list for fall by trying out different local wines on a wine tour. A little wine on a beautiful autumn day sounds like love to me.

Fall is arguably the the most beautiful season. Taking advantage of this heartwarming time to have some fun with someone special will make it even more beautiful. What are your favorite fall date ideas?
