Wichita Trick-or-Treat Times & FAQs | Halloween 2023

Wichita KS | Halloween 2023 – Halloween is so close we can almost taste the candy! Here’s everything you need to know about trick-or-treating in Wichita, from when it starts to where it happens:

What time does trick-or-treating start in Wichita?

The City of Wichita has no official set time. Typically, you can expect trick-or-treaters to begin roaming the streets when the sun starts to set (especially families with little ones). Plan to hear your doorbell ring from 5pm-8pm, with a few stragglers before and after.

If you’re offering non-food or allergy-friendly treats for kids, don’t forget to put a teal pumpkin on your porch!

As a general rule, if your whole family is out enjoying the fun or if you won’t be participating in the festivities, just leave your porch light off so trick-or-treaters know to skip your house!

Do we only trick-or-treat on Halloween Day in Wichita?

This is a popular question that pops up when Halloween falls on a school night or on a Sunday. The city of Wichita does not change the date of trick-or-treating – it’s always on October 31st, rain or shine!

If there is inclement weather, some Halloween events have been known to move indoors – we will let you know if this happens!

Where are the best places for trick-or-treating in Wichita?

We always recommend sticking to the familiarity & safety of your own neighborhood! But if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous, the College Hill neighborhood always goes all out with fun spooky displays! These houses/neighborhoods also get into the spirit with their drive-by Halloween scenes.

You can also check out these Trunk-or-Treats in Wichita for fun without all the spooky stuff! And Halloween is usually the last night to visit our favorite Pumpkin Patches and Corn Mazes in Wichita.

What do we do with extra Halloween candy?

When you get home with all of that loot, parents should double-check to make sure nothing looks suspicious. Then you can feast while watching a fun family Halloween movie OR enjoy a few pieces and give the rest to the Switch Witch!
